We show our own videos, and have discussions, and talks about filming with a camcorder. It is a very friendly group. the main contact is Mrs. Margaret Job, tel:01845 523605. Magaret actually runs the club.

I lived in Thirsk from 1985-1995, Went to Sowerby Primary School and onto Thirsk Comp. I've lost touch with a lot of my old school friends since moving away, and in the hope that someone reads this who remembers me, i thought that I'd get in contact. Thirsk is a wonderful place to live, but I never really appreciated that until I'd lived here a while. Too-ing and fro-ing from London is a far cry from a sunday walk along Sutton Bank, The white horse or Cod Beck, or even Miss Miller making us run cross country in the freezing cold, around the flats, until your legs went blue, your nose was red, and you couldn't make out your trainers for the mud!!! Fond memories. I remember the day I left. November 17th 1995. Since that day I've only returned 2 or 3 times. I miss it like crazy, but can't track the people I used to be friends with. Anyone with any info, please e-mail me! Thank you!

I'm moving into Thirsk, hopefully at the end of October. I've bought one of those new houses behind The Three Tuns in the market square, that are still being built. I was hoping that if anyone was passing with a digital camera they could E-Mail me a picture so I could get an idea on the progress. I hear the rain has been heavy and building work has been slow. If anybody can help that would be great, Looking forward to moving in.

I am trying to trace details about my great grandfather. He was named hardisty and lived at 39 station road, he had remarried and was a police inspector. He had a very big funeral when he died and i know it was after 1945. i would like to contact any of the hardisty family if you know of any contacts. Thank you for your help.Theresa Mason.

Nice clean site. I am researching history of Clayton family living in Thirsk prior to 1890. Family were cordwainers and tea dealers. Are there any written histories of Victorian Thirsk? or any other interesting books. regards Rob Clayton

Hi, I am coming to visit Thirsk very soon (3rd August). I'm staying at Hollybush Farm yet cannot find it on the Internet at all... let alone get any directions. I wonder if you could be so kind as to give me a rough idea of where it is (if indeed you know of it?!). Also, my stay is part of an organised Christian camp called Northern Light, I'm not sure however that I want to stay in a tent for a week and wonder if there's some near-by low cost accommodation?? Any help you can offer will be much appreciated. I looked at your Inn's and Accommodation sections but as I don't know where the farm is, I don't know which is the closest!! Many thanks in advance for your help. Chris Jordan.

Love your website - learning so much each day - Thirsk is now a very special place (I have never been there but next year will be visiting) My brother, Granville Neal and his lovely wife, Joan live there. I found him via the internet last June after 59 years. So you see why Thirsk is so important (apart from James Herriot news of course!!!). Avice
